Great weather today, high seventies with modreate northerly wind.. Water is clearing up a bit but still quite stained. All fish taken on the small dropper fly. Mainly black micro mays. Nothing huge but some quality fish.
Although the day was beautiful the fishing was a bit slow. Maybe due to the continuing discolor of the water or maybe we did not get the right mix of patters and or depth. However we did hook fish, mainly on smaller flies 16-18 beaded caddis poopah (olive), red copper johns and drifting flashbacks. Kept a superfloss as the top fly but no confirmed hookups on that pattern. Upper section from Bonnyview to I-5 had better water clarity.
Well after a break from fishing due to some needed poor weather :-) we are headed back out to drift the Sac today. I will post the days report this evening.
Drifted Bonnyview to Anderson on Sat. 2/7/09. Very windy, probably gusts to 20 from the North. Still boated 8 fish or so. Nothing large but all great fish. a few on the stretch between Mr Emmersons house and Clear creek. The rest below River ranch. sz 16 drifting flashback pt's and larger brown and black superfloss were most productive.
Turtle Bay Trout Guides strive to make a day of fly fishing on the Sacramento River a fun and casual experience. Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery, food and fly fishing on a 4-5 hr. drift from Redding to Anderson California.
